For the past 10 years, George Schaefer has used no-till as a way to save soil on his century farm, which was established in the 1880s. He began farming 20 years ago and grows corn, beans, oats, hay, barley, and wheat. George has been growing cover crops on some of his acres as part of the ILF/PFI cover crop working group.
Schaefer and his wife, Anne, have one child, Cary. He is a member of the Mid-Prairie school board.
